Bulgarian consortium to build the Kardzhali Podkova road section

The Kardzali- Podkova company submitted the lowest offer of BGN 32 mln, VAT excluded, in the public procurement tender for the construction of the road section between the town of Kardzali and the village of Podkova, became clear yesterday after the opening of the price offers of the bidders in the Road Infrastructure Agency. The highest offer of more than BGN 52 mln, VAT excluded, was submitted by the Austrian Alpine Bau company.

Four Bulgarian companies partake in the consortium which was selected as project contractor, including Integrirani Patni Sistemi JSC (Integrated Traffic Systems), which is the leading partner. Patstroy Engineering JSC, Kardzali; Patstroy Ltd, Stara Zagora; and Es Di Es Ltd, Stara Zagora are the other participants in the consortium. The project envisages the construction of a new road of 24 km, the rehabilitation of another 8 km and the construction of a 2 km road junction at the village of Fotinovo.
The estimated project budget was BGN 52 mln and the funds are allocated under the Operational Programme Transport. The deadline for implementation of the contract is set for September 2013.

A total of 9 candidates participated in the tender. The association Euro Asphalt - Road Engineering was refused further participation in the procedure.
The other candidates whose bids were opened were: the Greek Aktor company (BGN 38.8 mln), the consortium Makaza (BGN 42.5 mln), Makaza Trace (BGN 37 mln), the consortium Rodopes (BGN 52.6 mln), Construcctsiones Rubau-Sofstroy (BGN 49.7 mln) and the association Smolyan Roads 2011 (BGN 42.6 mln). All amounts are quoted VAT excluded.
