Borissov: There will be no reshuffling of Ministers before the elections

“There will be no reshuffling of ministers before the parliamentary and local elections this year,” announced Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on bTV yesterday. According to him, currently, the members of the Cabinet cope well with their work. When answering the question whether he is listening to Simeon Djankov, Borissov said that he is listening to all his ministers. He added that he sees nothing wrong with listening to his Financial Minister.

Borissov commented on the salaries in the administration, disclosed in the report on the State administration, on the Internet page of the Council of Ministers. According to this document, salaries have increased dramatically in some of the Ministries. "The increase is reasonable, regarding the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works - the experts there manage projects for billions," he said. He stated that the managers in private companies, in charge of similar projects, receive salaries of about €10,000.

Borissov said that the practice of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) to accept donations from individuals and companies will be cancelled, and the administration will receive the necessary funds from the budget. At the end of May, it was released that MoI had collected the amount of €6.5 mln from private donors within three months. This practice has been criticised in the technical part of the report published yesterday by the European Commission. Borissov stated that it had existed for 22 years and he expected the experts from MoI to specify the exact amount in order to be included in next year's budget. "If not accepted by Brussels, we must cancel this practice," said Borissov and explained why the collection of donations had not been stopped by the current Government: "This practice has existed for years and Tsvetanov has not cancelled it."
