PM Boyko Borissov: There will be no frauds during the elections

“There will be no frauds at the forthcoming elections,” stated PM Boyko Borissov for the Council of Ministers meeting today, commenting on the words of Ahmed Dogan, leader of MRF (Movement for Rights and Freedoms), who had said that he expected a manipulation of the vote.

“For the last 22 years we have all kinds of frauds and deceipt. People expect us to do the same. I can guarantee that this will not happen,” PM Borissov was adamant.

According to the Prime Minister, Rosen Plevneliev is a man who can always be useful. However, PM Borissov is certain that in the present situation he has no right to think of going back. “ I am glad that Plevneliev is that kind of a person – not to look back. The one that destroys the bridge behind him in order to make sure that there is only one way to go - forward. Otherwise, one would always hesitate whether or not to go back,” said PM Borissov. He explained that Margarita Popova would keep her ministerial post because she had some important tasks to complete, while Rosen Plevneliev would quid the Cabinet immediately, because his Ministry was too important to stop operating.

Asked whether Plevneliev could return to his post after an eventual loss at the elections and become the third deputy prime minister, the Prime Minister replied that he was looking for a third deputy prime minister when Simeon Djankov was not quite experienced.

“GERB’s presidential couple of candidates – Rosen Plevneliev and Margarita Popova - will visit Brussels and will present their programme to the leadership of the European People’s Party (EPP),” said yesterday Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Vice Chairman of GERB and Head of the party’s election headquarters. The latter is currently on a visit to Belgium’s capital where he met with EPP’s Secretary General Antonio Lopez. During the conversation which lasted nearly two hours Tsvetanov acquainted Lopez with GERB’s preparations for participation in the presidential and local elections.
