Free-of-charge beaches to be inspected via GPS systems

The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Work started re-inspections at the Black Sea coast, announced the press office of the department. The plans provide for inspections to be carried out by an inter-ministerial group on the spot and by air via GPS and satellite system. Besides, throughout the entire August sudden inspections will be carried out.

The GPS system is used for the precise measuring of the free-of-charge zones, which must cover not less than 50% of the total area of ​​the beach strip. It will detect the location and area occupied by various establishments and sectors at the sea beach. At the beginning of the summer season, the first inspections detected 179 violations. The re-inspection will show whether the concessionaires and lessees have complied with the stipulations of the MRDPW. Besides, the GPS system should determine the exact location and surface area of ​​the paid beach facilities along with the handicapped access across the beach sand, rescue stations, sports areas, kids' play zones, etc. Thus, the electronic data will prevent effectively any future disputes relating to the contract implementation.

The most frequent violations refer to shortcomings in the organisation of the water rescue activities and in the medical care services, specified the MRDPW. Other established irregularities relate to the size of the paid beaches as well as to the lack of sanitary and hygiene facilities.

The imposed penalties stood at 1% of the annual concession remuneration or price. The Regional Office failed to inform about the exact amount of the budget funds allocated for the implementation of these inspections and for the introduction of the satellite systems.
Tomorrow, the inspections will be joined by the Regional Minister, Rosen Plevneliev.
