Parliament session rescheduled for Friday due to a lack of draft bills

The MPs will not hold a session in the Plenary hall today because most of the weekly program they voted yesterday is already implemented. The programme was proposed by the parliamentary group of GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) and included just five points. The last of them - the Parliamentary Control is traditionally scheduled for Friday.

Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva announced that the vote on the release of the seven MPs from GERB who had been elected mayors would be carried out on Friday as well. Debates and votes on the remaining three items on the agenda were held for about three hours and shortly after 12 o'clock yesterday the parliamentary session was closed.

This is not a precedent for the work of the 41st National Assembly, but it is noteworthy that because of the elections too many sittings have been skipped. Initially, it was decided by a majority vote no meetings to be held in the period of 10 - 26 October. In this time period, an extraordinary meeting took place, following the request of 53 MPs from the opposition, but it was terminated because Volen Siderov violated the order in the hall. In the week between the first and the second round of the elections, two meetings failed due to the lack of quorum.

On Wednesday, the MPs rejected at first reading the draft bill of the left-wing parties for amendments to the Health Insurance Act. The amendments stipulated that the charge retirees pay for visits to their GPs should not be bound to the minimum wage but to the minimum pension. The bill, proposed by Coalition for Bulgaria, offering that the maximum insurance income should be related to the minimum wage found no support either.
