BSP demands the resignations of the Health and Agriculture Ministers

Yesterday, the MPs from the parliamentary group of Coalition for Bulgaria demanded the resignations of Health Minister Stefan Konstantinov and Agriculture Minsiter Miroslav Naydenov. In the statement, presented by the Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, Angel Naydenov, the socialists indicated that "the wave of resignations" and the dismissal of four Heads, including Nelly Nesheva, NHIF Manager, Georgi Harizanov, CEO of Irrigation Systems, Violeta Nikolova, Director of the Registry Agency, and Gergana Pavlova, Deputy Minister of Health, "are only the first, and simply a small step in the right direction."

According to the BSP, "precisely such people are expected to promote the interests of persons and economic circles, standing behind the election results of GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria)". Maybe the lawmakers and the Bulgarian citizens are still unaware of many other scandals, stated also the statement.

Meanwhile, yesterday the Parliament officially voted on the resignation of Doctor Nelly Nesheva with 116 votes in favour, 3 against and 8 abstentions. Although a day earlier it became clear that the parliamentary group of GERB will not keep Nesheva, her dismissal caused a long discussion in the plenary hall which gradually turned into a purely political and ideological dispute.

According to Maya Manolova from BSP, Minister Konstantinov must carry his resignation in his pocket all the time, because it will be probably demanded soon. He was accused of inappropriate behavior with regard to the outrageous prices of medicines at the Bulgarian market. Although a special commission monitoring the price rates is subordinate to the Health Ministry, Konstantinov has demonstrated misunderstanding and irresponsibility on the issue. Besides, the MPs from GERB also demonstrated their dissatisfaction with the Health Minister. Yesterday, they commented on the scandal with the high prices of medicines.
