The Union of Democratic Forces demanded the resignation of the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Miroslav Naydenov and the Director of State Fund Agriculture, Svetoslav Simeonov. This became clear at a press conference of the party yesterday. They accused the Minister of corruption basing their accusations on some documents from the SFA. The UDF headquarters located at the building on 134 Rakovska str. circulated a memorandum by Svetoslav Simeonov (incumbent SFA Head), who as Deputy SFA Executive in 2010 reported that pressure was exerted by the Minister aimed at providing unfair advantage to certain consulting companies.

"I have repeatedly received phone calls from the Cabinet of Minister Naydenov for providing priority to projects being implemented by specified consulting companies, while most of them experienced problems for not complying with the programme's rules," wrote Simeonov in his explanations to the former chairwoman of the Fund, Kalina Ilieva. He argued that he referred the case to the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office (SCPO), since the project had also been investigated by OLAF. Subsequently, following the signal submitted by the Simeonov, a letter was received from OLAF, stating that in August 2010, an on-the-spot inspection of the specific project would be carried out. 'The inspection would show that the project was unduly approved, which would be a risk both for the reputation of our country as well for the funding by the European Commission," wrote Simeonov.

Representatives of State Fund Agriculture published an official denial of the information disclosed by the party. According to it, the letter is "a consecutive falsified document of the former SFA executive director, Kalina Ilieva''.

In the official records of the SFA under file № 01-1102/1400 25.06.10, there is a document with some quite different information. Perhaps, it also comes down to a forged signature of the current SFA Executive Director, Svetoslav Simeonov.

"I do not even want to comment on the content of this forged document. Obviously, UDF, frustrated by the recent sociological surveys, is resorting to methods which are unacceptable for a serious political party" retorted Minister Miroslav Naydenov for Focus Agency.
