Borissov demands from Fandakova not to launch the repair works of the stadium located in Bistritsa residential district

The proposal for the stadium located in the Sofia residential district of Bistritsa to be repaired with BGN 506,000 of municipal funds was withdrawn yesterday after the personal intervention of PM Boyko Borissov. Currently, the amateur football team FC (football club) "Vitosha" (Bistritsa) plays at the local football field. The team is best known for the fact that PM Borissov himself is registered there as a football player.

The proposal for financing the renovation of the stadium located at Bistritsa village with BGN 506,000 from the Specialised Municipal Privatization Fund was withdrawn, announced today Vice-Chairman of the Finance Committee to the SMC (Sofia Municipal Council), Vladimir Kissyov. This report has been submitted by the Finance Committee head, Orlin Alexiev of GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party) and the SMC Deputy Mayor for Finance, Doncho Barbalov. Shortly before Kissyov's announcement, the report was rejected by the Committee on Youth and Sports.

Only a few hours earlier, it became clear that PM Boyko Borissov personally asked Mayor Yordanka Fandakova and the the municipal councillors that the item concerned be withdrawn from the agenda of tomorrow's SMC session.

"I asked Mrs. Fandakova to request from the municipal councillors to remove from their session agenda, the item relating to the repair of the Bistritsa-located stadium. I sincerely regret that this village, as a part of Sofia, will remain without any modern sports facility. The team of Bistritsa is strong enough, even when playing under these conditions. It hurts me when such speculations are made because the GERB government did a lot for the development of sports and sports facilities in our country," stated the Prime Minister to the Focus News Agency.
