Customs Agency to go completely electronic

“The Bulgarian customs administration will rank in the EU Top 10,” Vanyo Tanov, Executive Director of the Customs Agency, said on BNR.

He specified that in the middle of 2013, it will be one of the few completely electronic customs, using an automated system for all customs matters and excise duties. All imports, exports, transited goods, etc. will be electronically processed. Vanyo Tanov underlined that the customs administration is being restructured and a quarter of its employees are newly hired. A total of 600 people have been recruited over the last two years and another 250 will be hired by the end of 2012. “All of them have been sent to a seven-month initial training under EU programmes and a specialised training will follow,” he added. “The Customs have a brand new profile,” assured Tanov.
