Customs Agency management to be moved to Ruse in a month and a half

“I have not given up on moving the Customs Agency to Ruse, but the process was delayed because we had other duties in the summer,” Bulgarian Minister of Finance Simeon Djankov said on Sunday in Ruse, as quoted by BGNES. Djankov explained that almost 60 people working in the headquarters had already been directed to the agency's territorial directorates and there would be a second wave in a month or month and a half. Such a process is in place in the headquarters of the National Revenue Agency, as well. “It is extremely important that we have people, who are really needed in the headquarters, while the rest can be sent to the territorial directorates in order to work as inspectors. After this process ends, we start moving to Ruse,” Djankov said. At present, four state buildings have been selected for a possible headquarters of the agency and since next year, the University of Ruse will offer a master's programme in Customs Management together with the continuing training for customs inspectors. Djankov announced that the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture will be relocated to Burgas on October 15 as part of the decentralisation process. In addition, the Maritime Administration is to be relocated to Varna. The Minister of Finance said that the sum of BGN 60 million necessary to raise teachers' salaries on January 1 was provided for in the budget for 2013. Additional funds will be earmarked for universities, so that more funds will be directed to education. The health care, culture and environment budgets will be increased, as well. The minister also commented on Russia's claim for damages worth €1 bn as compensation for the Belene NPP. “In no way will be pay €1 bn to Russia. These claims are ridiculous, they will fail in the Court of Arbitration; probably they are led by political reasons. Such claims were made by Atomexportstroy over the last few years in two other countries. Both claims were rejected,” Djankov stated.
