GERB offers a new wording of the referendum on the Belene NPP

The government has agreed to hold a referendum on the Belene NPP but it wants the question to be changed, became clear during the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday.

"We stand firmly behind the referendum on the Belene NPP. We insist that BSP remove the word which makes the text unconstitutional and formulate it as construction of a new plant," said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov during a closed session of the Council of Ministers.

"It is clear to all Bulgarians that the case in point is Belene, so - there is no need to speak. And it cannot be 'atomic'. According to the law, it has to be 'nuclear,'" said Boyko Borissov.

We insist on the question of the referendum as it is set in the subscription. The only thing we accept is the addition of "through state participation", said in Parliament MP from Coalition for Bulgaria Angel Naydenov.

The question formulated by BSP in the subscription is: "Should atomic energy be developed in Bulgaria by building a power plant at the Belene platform?" Naydenov explained.
