Boyko Borissov: It is populism that Bulgarians have become poorer in three years

Stanishev's statement that people have become poorer in three years is pure populism and it is irresponsible of him to say so. No, for decades, people have been ruled in a way which led them to the state of being the poorest and the least developed in Europe, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on Sunday in Etropole. He visited the town for the opening of projects funded with European money.

"Unfortunately, the rule of our Government coincided with the worst financial and economic crisis in the world. Nevertheless - every day we build, we open, we show what we have done," said Borissov in Etropole. "The European budget will be decided in January. The problem in Europe is huge - there is no money. Financial, debt and economic crises have stricken countries in the world on a mass scale, especially those in Europe. Even the countries which created the EU are now very sceptical about giving money. This will be the first budget mentioning budget cuts. In the years up to now, more money has always been given. This answers all questions - why the situation is so serious in all countries in Europe in terms of job creation and growth. So far, no one can give a recipe," added Boyko Borissov.

"There is no way that Stanishev would know how to protect the national interest. Because one of the biggest attacks against Bulgaria was his fault. Perhaps the only person who knew of EU funds was Mrs. Plougchieva, but she left them and came to us as an Ambassador," said the Prime Minister.

He added that he has spoken to his European colleagues in order to convince them that there should be no money cuts for the poorest country in the EU.

Borissov said once again that GERB will support UDF's nomination of a Constitutional Court Judge if the Democrats nominate a worthy candidate for election.
