Bulgarian expert Ruslan Stefanov: Brexit sets serious political uncertainty in Europe

“Brexit should not bear such a strong economic effect but it sets serious political uncertainty.”
This is what Ruslan Stefanov, senior expert with the Centre for the Study of Democracy, said commenting on the results of the UK referendum on leaving the EU, speaking for Radio FOCUS.
According to him, the markets report that the uncertainty in Europe is much bigger than the one in the UK.
“Out of the reaction of the markets and the positions of the commentators, we see that the level of uncertainty has drastically increased because no one knows what the political reactions and the effect on the national elections and the distribution of the powers will be from now on,” Mr Stefanov commented further.
He remarked that UK’s move was a precedent and it was still unclear how long the exit procedure would continue for.
According to the Bulgarian expert, it was possible to witness the domino effect in other countries under the pressure of the citizens.
