President Rosen Plevneliev: We want Bulgaria to become preferred outsourcing destination for French companies

“Over the past ten years the trade between Bulgaria and France amounts at more than EUR 1 billion annually. There is some 61.2% increase registered for the same period of time, while the French investments in Bulgaria top EUR 1.3 billion.”
This is what President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev said speaking at a meeting with representatives of the French business, which set the start of his working visit to Paris, France, the press centre of the President’s Office announced.
“The French Republic is a strategic trade and economic partner and our country considers the development of the bilateral relations a priority,” the Bulgarian Head of State commented further.
“I expect to see more French investors in Bulgaria in the higher technology productions. I believe that our success goes through establishing stable and successful economic partnerships. It is exactly for the integration – both political and economic, to make the progress possible,” President Plevneliev remarked.
According to Rosen Plevneliev, in hard times for Europe, like the current one – when the UK referendum shook the foundations of the EU, it is even more important than ever to remind ourselves that our successes are common, that everyone wins from the integration and cooperation, while the populism and nationalism harm not only us but also the next generations.
The Bulgarian Head of State remarked that our country was establishing itself the position of a regional centre in the car industry, the outsourcing industry, as well as in the field of information and communication technologies.
“More and more foreign companies choose Bulgaria as a destination to outsource their services and productions to. The sector reports a significant growth in Bulgaria and about 40,000 jobs were opened in the past years, while we expect the number to reach 60,000 by 2020,” Rosen Plevneliev said further.
The President recalled that Bulgaria was declared best outsourcing destination in Europe for 2015. It is also ranked in the Top 10 of the best outsourcing destinations in the world.
“We want Bulgaria to become preferred outsourcing destination for the French companies,” the Bulgarian Head of State pointed out.
The President also said that the perfect telecommunication network, the well-trained staff and the good traditions of the country in the information and communication technologies were the factors that place Bulgaria as a regional leader in the sector.
He explained that about 5,400 companies operated in the sector of information technologies, while about 1,500 – in the information services sector.
President Rosen Plevneliev remarked that the sector made 3.3% of the GDP. 65% of the Bulgarian information and communication technologies products are exported and they successfully compete with the others at the global market.
During his working visit to France President Rosen Plevneliev will meet with his French counterpart Francois Hollande. Mr Plevneliev will also hold talks with Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Jose Angel Gurria, as well as with President of the National Assembly Claude Bartolon.
Rosen Plevneliev will also meet with representatives of the Bulgarian community in France.
