Some 20% of Trakia motorway are completed

Nearly 20% of the construction works on Trakia motorway have been completed, announced Sergey Mihalev, Chairman of the Management Board of the National Road Infrastructure Agency (NRIA). The inspection of the site was carried out late last week. According to NRIA's data, 25% of the construction of Lot 2, covering the section from the towns of Stara Zagora to Nova Zagora, have been completed. In this part, a test segment with a length of around 200 m was constructed.

According to BSP (Bulgarian Socialist Party), however, this section does not comply with the criteria for high-quality construction since ash was used as a construction material instead of the required inert substances. For this reason, the leftists demanded the resignation of Minister of Regional Development and of Transport Rossen Plevneliev. NRIA, in turn, explicitly claimed that no violations related to the construction materials being used had been detected.

For now, the due funds transferred to the contractors total BGN 60 mln. This amount includes both the advance prepayments and the amounts for the certified construction activities until now. The Unification Highway Trace building Lot 2 has received overall BGN 21.3 mln, while a total of BGN 17.8 mln have been transferred to the Greek Aktor S.A. The Consortium Trakia IV, which is the contractor of Lot 4, has received overall BGN 20.2 mln.
