The materials used in the construction of Lot 2 of Trakia motorway meet all requirements, said the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Rosen Plevneliv before bTV yesterday. This is also confirmed by the results of the independent laboratory, which analysed samples of the inert materials, which are used in the road section construction. "I expect Dimcho Mihalevski (MP of Coalition for Bulgaria, a former deputy regional minister – editor's note) to apologise to everyone and send a rebuttal letter to Brussels, the same way he filed a slander report against me," retorted Plevneliev. He reiterated before bTV that his candidacy for Bulgarian President was not on the agenda.

The inspections on the quality of building materials used along the construction of the entire route are carried out each month by the Directorate for National Construction Supervision, announced Milka Gecheva, Head of the Directorate on Friday in the presentation of the expertise results.
The project cost will increase due to the soil problems with Lot 4 section of the Trakia highway, stated George Pregyov, Deputy Minister of the Regional Office. In his words, the increase of the project cost is due to be specified, but it will not be state-subsidised. "These funds are eligible costs estimated in the project," commented Pregyov.

Meanwhile, the Bulgarian Construction Chamber (BCC) forecast that the expected investments in national road infrastructure could reach €1.5 bn by the end of 2011, reported the BCC Chairman, Svetoslav Glosov. In his words, only this sector is currently reporting a positive growth and ongoing optimistic attitudes. The stirring in construction industry is due to the implementation of projects funded under the EU operational programmes. According to BCC data, the contracted resources under the EU Funds amount to 40 - 60 %, while the actually absorbed grants were around 11%. "There are no problems with the state payment transfers," assured Glosov. He added that the old liabilities to the BCC were squared, while the current repayment instalments were received within the set disbursement deadline.

The default of municipalities to construction companies stands at over BGN 100 mln, showed the BCC statistics. So far, the bank accounts of 7 municipalities operating with the municipal companies have been frozen. The operating companies are also indebted to the BCC, whereas the CEZ liabilities only reach more than BGN 70 mln.
