Forecasts for early bookings in the summer indicate a 30% growth at ITB Berlin

This year, large-scale tour operators expect positive growth in bookings for Bulgaria where EU markets are concerned, announced the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism after a meeting of the Economy Minister, Traicho Traikov with EU market representatives at the international exhibition ITB-Berlin. The travel group TUI predicted a four-fold growth of the Russian market. The tour operator ITS also expects a positive growth of 28-30% in German bookings. Neckermann, which last year registered 150,000 reservations for Bulgaria, expect the number of tourists to reach 180,000. After talks with tour operators, Alma Tour's manager, Lyubomir Pankovski, explained that early bookings reached 40-50%. Ultimately, the number of bookings won't be much, but, we have an increase, emphasised branch representatives. The most important thing is how markets develop and how the crisis which is destabilising the market will continue in Egypt and Tunisia. These two countries could reduce prices to attract tourists and, in this way, probably affect the tourism policy of other destinations, including Bulgaria.
The development of spa tourism in Bulgaria was the major topic discussed by Deputy Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism, Ivo Marinov, in the German capital yesterday. With an abundance of over 600 mineral springs, Bulgaria has a serious potential in this segment.
