The Lead and Zinc Complex in Kurdjali with a new owner within a month

“The negotiations with creditor banks of the Lead and Zinc Complex should be finalised within a month and a new investor would enter the enterprise,” PM Boyko Borissov announced on Friday at a meeting with the steelworkers in Kardjali. The workers can already draw their wages after BGN 500,000 were transferred to their bank accounts. This is a wage and a half on average. In order for this to happen, the Prime Minister has held a peremptory conversation with the creditor banks.

“It was a very difficult conversation. I am sure that there would not be any wages in Madan or Kurdjali without our intervention. Please note that the money for your present payment has not been guaranteed to the banks by Zahariev. Banks just said - okay, for the sake of you we will pay. BGN 300,000 or BGN 350,000 doesn’t make much difference,” PM Borissov told steelworkers.

Within a month, the enterprise is expected to have new management, added the Prime Minister. He said he explained to the directors of banks, who had come especially for the negotiations from Paris and Geneva, the importance of the lead and zinc smelter in Kardjali.
