Workers from the Lead and Zinc Complex in Kardjali give a 3-day ultimatum

Steel workers from the Lead and Zinc complex in Kardjali will wait for just three more days while the negotiations between creditor banks on the fate of the company are being held and will then leave the enterprise, BGNES posted.

On Wednesday, the last three days of negotiations between representatives of the creditors were to begin in Sofia, expected to result in a final decision on the plant’s future. However, they will not be attend by the majority owner Valentin Zahariev, the CEO Slaveya Stoyanova or the candidate investor – the Polish holding company Silesia. “Nothing has changed at a local level in Kardjali,” Ivanka Karakoleva, syndicate leader of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria at the enterprise, told klassa.bg. “Nobody works and nothing is being sold because everything has been put in pledge,” she stated. According to her, no outcome of the negotiations with creditors had been reached by Wednesday evening.
