Bulgarian military forces donate 270 "gold" decares to Sofia Tech Park

A land area of ​​270 decares near the Arena Armeec sports hall will be transferred from the Ministry of Defence to the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism (MEET) for the construction of the Sofia Tech Park. This became clear on Monday at the sports hall in the presence of President Rosen Plevneliev and the line ministers - Anyu Angelov and Delian Dobrev.
The military will receive about BGN 5 mln from the Economic Department, which is a much lower price than the prime cost of the land plot and the amount should cover the cost of the transfer of part of the infrastructure of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, which is located in this area.

The technology park will be located at 111 Tsarigradsko Chaussee Blvd. and its first section must be completed by the end of 2015. Its funding will cost €50 mln and the grants have already been provided under Operational Programme Competitiveness, stated Economy Minister Delian Dobrev.
The initial phase will be aimed at build the park's communication infrastructure, as well as several buildings for training activities and research laboratories. Furthermore, a road to the area will be constructed at the turn to Tsarigradsko Chaussee Blvd. Beside the technology park, there will also be a bus stop.

The respective company, headed by CEO Elitsa Panayotova, has already been registered under the name Tech Park Sofia SPLTD with a capital of BGN 3 mln. The sole shareholder is the company "National Company Industrial Zones" operating under MEET.

According to Panayotova, by end of the year, the work schedule on the construction of the new facilities will be drafted. Currently, there are abandoned buildings of the military in the area, as well as lush vegetation. The CEO hopes that the first laboratories and IT companies will become operative by the end of 2015.
