The Swiss giant Johnson Electric is interested in Bulgaria

The Swiss giant Johnson Electric, which produces parts for cars, medical equipment, cameras, optical equipment and more, has shown investment interest in Bulgaria, klassa.bg found out.

Representatives of Johnson Electric, which has centres in Hong Kong, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Israel, Japan, the UK, the USA and others, were on a visit to the country late last week to inspect terrains.

The preliminary intentions of the corporation, which had sales of over $2 bn last financial year according to their website, are to employ 2,000 people in Bulgaria. The Ministry of Economy, however, refused to comment for klassa.bg, on the grounds that they cannot provide information on investment plans.

The site of Johnson Electric informs that the group employs 38,000 people in 23 countries. And their sales for the last financial year have increased by 2%, compared to the previous year. Johnson Electric was established in 1953 and Laurent Cardon is its General Manager. The company's products are distributed in Bulgaria by Farnell.

If the investment plan is confirmed, this will be Switzerland's second major high-tech investment in Bulgaria. On October 2, President Rossen Plevneliev opened a new plant of the Swiss company Reichle & De-Massari for the design, manufacture and assembly of fibre optic components and platforms in Sofia.
