BSP mulls a vote of no confidence because of the poor state of non-competitive sport in Bulgaria

The Parliamentary group of the Coalition for Bulgaria should start a consultation procedure with the intention to submit a vote of no confidence because of the Government's utter failure in non-competitive sport development. The suggestion came on Sunday from the Debate Club for Social and Local Policy, under the umbrella of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP). According to the club's leader Nikolay Belalov, Bulgaria's team performance at the London Olympics warrants such a response. Belalov reminded of a statement made by the sports Minister Svilen Neykov, saying BGN 120 mln of pubic money has been invested in the preparation of the country's Olympic players. This means each of the two Olympic medals the nation won in the UK capital has cost the Government BGN 60 mln, the left-wing party calculated. Belalov says a better use of funds would be investing in non-competitive sport development. He is indignant at Boyko Borissov's award for his high regard for the sports world and stressed: "The people who awarded him this honor are out of their mind." Belalov dismissed the sports policy in Sofia as non-existent.
