President Rosen Plevneliev: Electricity bills will decrease via liberalisation and investment

Electricity bills will not decrease via nationalisation, President Rosen Plevneliev said after a meeting with the leadership of the Blue Coalition within the framework of the month of political consultations.

Electricity bills will decrease via liberalisation and investment in energy efficiency, the President added.

People should know what they are paying for. It is the role of the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism (MEET) and the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (SEWRC).

Electricity bills will decrease only via energy efficiency measures and a liberal market, Plevneliev said, adding: "The faster the Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) goes public, the better it will be for Bulgaria."
