MRF wants the elections to be held on May 12, at the latest

"If April 28 seems too soon for you, the elections may be held in the first days of May, with the exception, of course, of the great Easter Holiday. If the elections are held after May 12, this will not be in compliance with Bulgarian national interests and these are associated with early elections, that should be held no later than May 12, 2013," said MRF's leader Lyutvi Mestan during the debates before the Government's accepted resignation. When a Government excludes its citizens, civil society manifests itself only in the form of protests, Mestan added.

In turn, Tsvetanov held a 45-minute speech, in which, for the first time, he admitted that the Government did not meet the expectations of Bulgarians and did not fulfil many of its campaign promises.

"Only parliamentary elections can decide what the will of Bulgarian voters is," said Tsvetanov. "But we became dependent on what is currently being seen on the part of those who provoked excesses, since, it is clear to everybody that this is a well orchestrated scenario," added Tsvetanov.

Parliamentary elections are urgent, BSP's leader Sergey Stanishev said during the debates on the resignation of the Government.

"The majority discredited this Parliament. It started with the largest percentage of confidence and ended with 6%. Recipes that are being offered today by some people are of someone's interests. When choosing a Grand National Assembly, 400 MPs will be elected, and not 200, and the goal is to take social rights out of the Constitution," said Stanishev. "It is everybody's fault. Therefore, a deep and serious political reform is absolutely necessary," he said.

"This Government held no dialogues; monologues were held on TV. However, the refrigerator won against the TV. That is why this Government left," said Stanishev.
