Georgi Dimov: I do not exclude possibility of Turkey applying death penalty on already convicted people

“If Turkey reinstates the death penalty, it is absolutely possible that it starts applying it on people, who are already convicted and already servicing effective sentences.”
This is what Georgi Dimov, former consul general of Bulgaria in Edirne, said speaking for Radio FOCUS.
“It is also possible for this reinstated death penalty to be also applied for people, who had their death penalties replaced with life imprisonment after the death penalty was abolished in the past.
In the first place this will be valid for PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan.
This gloomy prognosis automatically puts the Kurdish issue into a giant deadlock,” Mr Dimov commented further.
According to Georgi Dimov, Turkey’s road to Europe is getting narrower.
“Ankara gave up on observing the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, while this is a fundamental document of the Council of Europe,” he remarked.
