The Blue Coalition pressures Tsvetanov to resign

In a parliamentary statement, MPs from the Blue Coalition demanded that Prime Minister Boyko Borissov remove Tsvetan Tsvetanov from his position as head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Dr. Vanyo Sharkov, who read the declaration, condemned the outrageous behaviour of Tsvetanov, who, just a year ago, called doctors in a Gorna Oryahovitsa hospital suspected of malpractice "murderers". On Monday, it was revealed that the four doctors under investigation will not be charged, after a nine-strong medical specialists' report found them innocent. Sharkov also reminded that, last year, Tsvetanov "illegally" revealed content of conversations between the suspects - information collected with the help of special intelligence means and, therefore, not a public domain.

The Interior Minister's actions are blatant proof of "arbitrary policing", the latest of a series of verbal attacks against people from all kinds of social standing, labelling as "criminals" lawyers, judges, doctors, etc.

"Let's see if the ruling party and the PM will once again support Tsvetan Tsvetanov's malevolent actions," added Sharkov.

Also on Wednesday, news came that the preliminary inquest in relation to the Gorna Oryahovitsa case is still open. Prosecutor Svetoslav Kalchev, who is overseeing proceedings, said the investigation into the death of the infant is ongoing, but that the last specialists' report freed the doctors from all suspicion.
