The Blue Coalition demands an audit of party subsidies

The Blue Coalition urges the Bulgarian National Audit Office Court to audit party subsidies and demands that a Parliamentary ad-hoc committee of inquiry researches what percentage of the budget subsidies allocated to independent MPs have actually gone to other parties. We hope that by the end of the day we would collect the necessary 48 signatures under each of the two petitions, announced yesterday in Parliament, the MP from the Blue Coalition, Mihail Mihaylov.

Both draft decisions would be submitted for signature to all parliamentary groups, including independent MPs, since the issue is associated with clearing the reputation of Parliament, added Ivanov. An inspection of Klassa daily showed that until yesterday evening the signatures had not yet been collected.

Literally minutes after the briefing of the Blue Coalition, the Vice-Chair of the GERB parliamentary group, Valentin Nikolov, explicitly denied that GERB had refused to support the establishment of the ad-hoc committee of inquiry.

We expect the Blue Coalition to submit its draft decision along with its motives, said Nikolov. According to him, probably the topic would be discussed at a regular session of the parliamentary group on Tuesday. Nikolov emphasised that it was not GERB, but the former ruling tripartite coalition, which had introduced the vicious practice of granting party subsidies to the MP leaving his parliamentary group.

We are being accused of provoking the break away of some or other lawmakers, and this is definitely not the case, reckoned Nikolov.
