Blizoo to be fined for a misleading advertisement

Television broadcaster Blizoo Media and Broadband JSC will have to pay a BGN 30,379 penalty for misleading advertisements, the Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) announced.

The Supreme Administrative Court (SAC) confirmed the penalty imposed on Blizoo by the CPC in October 2011 for misleading advertisements on the Internet and in brochures. According to the advertisements, the company offered a "full package", including digital TV with more than 150 channels, Internet and fixed telephony services. The case, however, proved that this number of television programmes has not been made available.

SAC argues that Blizoo has misled customers with the package offered, since it actually provides quite a smaller number of television programmes. According to the court, there is indisputable evidence of the possibility for customers to be misled. Moreover, such a possibility can actually occur. The decision of the Court is final and not subject to appeal.
