Interior Minister Rumiana Bachvarova: About 200 illegal migrants are detained every week

“About 200 illegal migrants are detained every week.”
This is what Deputy Prime Minister for Coalition Policy and Public Administration and Minister of Interior Rumiana Bachvarova said speaking with journalist after meeting with Poland’s Minister of the Interior and Administration Mariusz Błaszczak in the coastal city of Burgas, Radio FOCUS reported.
The minister explained that the number was smaller compared with last year. She added that the dynamics of the entire process was different.
“It is important that we receive the support of the Bulgarian army in harder situations,” the minister remarked.
Rumiana Bachvarova explained that only Turkish citizens had been returned to our southern neighbour and not refugees.
Mr Błaszczak, on the other hand, said that Poland was ready to commission additional officers, if needed.
“It depends on the Bulgarian authorities. We are ready to commission 60 border police officers, 40 police officers and 20 clerks,” he remarked.
